The week of June 12th is already going to be one of the best weeks of the year because of Metal Gear Solid 4's release. Not only that, but on June 13th, THE HAPPENING is released. I am atingle with excitement. And to add further to that sensation, is a new trailer. I believe UNBREAKABLE to be Shyamalan's opus, but he gets better, technically, as his films progress. I am definitely anticipating how he'll woo us this time with his film-making.

Well, remember a couple hours ago when I wasn't too impressed with the new photo released by Summit Entertainment for TWILIGHT? Well, things have been rectified. I just found a few MTV exclusive clips on the set of TWILIGHT that impressed me, very much. My slight detachment of vigor has returned for the film. Breaking News: TWILIGHT stars fall into vat of wax
Please do not be alarmed for that headline is not true. Well, it is, but not completely. Let's just blame it on poor, poor, poor photoshop artists. Anyhoo, the folks at Cinematical received an exclusive official character poster for TWILIGHT. This coming from someone who is very much looking forward to its release, for some reason I'm not sure if the pic made me more excited for the film. And here it is in all its glory and photoshop edits. Seriously, yes it looks awesome and I'm happy with the cast choices (I have to be), but at the same time, did they have to make it look like a rejected photograph from the cutting room floors of Vanity Fair?

Better or worse than the official one? Still, I'm excited for TWILIGHT which comes out December 12th of this year.

HANCOCKian mischief
I'm really not sure what it is, or rather was, about HANCOCK that made me want to pee on the poster if I ever saw it, but the film just didn't interest me, at all. I began putting things together. Will Smith couldn't follow up a success like I AM LEGEND with some crap, or could he? Having not read the script, the only plot details I knew were the plot details that everyone knew. Man with superpowers is actually an ass but then has to get himself on the ball and straighten up. Peter Berg(THE KINGDOM, COLLATERAL) directed it, which was one of the only things I was excited about; that and Jason Bateman. But with a new trailer out now, I can breathe a little easier. Make up your own mind about it after watching the trailer below. Then hit the jump at the end to watch a condensed version with only the new action scenes for ADHD viewers.
Is it just me or...should Jason Bateman play a superhero. You know how great that would be? Him or Will Arnett. Or both of them! Bateman could play Robin, and Arnett could play Edward Nigma/The Riddler.

SKY CRAWLERS / SUKAI KURORA
Having only seen several episodes of GHOST IN THE SHELL but not investing enough time in the anime to grasp the story, I'm still happy to get the recent new that Steven Speilberg's production company has bought rights to make a live-action version of the anime. Great news. But that's not what my posts about today. GHOST's directer, Mamoru Oshii's new feature is something I'm very much looking forward to. SKY CRAWLERS. Mid-air dog fights, great soundtrack, this is really going to be impressive. People have already seen the first fifteen minutes at a Tokyo exhibition and are already praising the stunning work. Superman wants you to love him, and only him
So finally, Superman does what we wished he would've done to Lois Lane in the last movie. What am I talking about? Brandon Routh, the fella who played Clark Kent himself in SUPERMAN RETURNS trades in his spandex and underwear for no clothes at all in a new inde-ish flick LIE TO ME. The film is basically about a couple who decides to become swingers but eventually find themselves falling in love with other people. Superman can have that affect. Anyhoo, I love provocative films and although it seems like a strange next movie for Routh, I say whatever. I'm not the actor, he is. He could do EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS 2: DOUBLE THE LEGS; 16 LEGS, AHHH!!! for all I care. Check out the trailer for LIE TO ME below after the jump. The film premieres at the Newport Beach Film Festival on April 26th.
Is it just me or...does it seem like Brandon Routh isn't that good of an actor? Wait, didn't I like SUPERMAN RETURNS? I thought I did. What's going on ?!

MIA? Not really
I know you all will cringe at this news, but I assure that it's only temporary. I will be out of town for most of this week and won't be back until Friday or Saturday so that means no updates. I'm actually posting this while out of town though I swore I wouldn't. But for now, just enjoy this...
Sci-fi junkies should've found this great and the rest of you...probably didn't.

Behind-the-scenes of TWILIGHT
I have something. It's a behind-the-scenes exclusive that ET got of the new film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer's New York Times Best Seller, "Twilight." YAY. The tentative release date for TWILIGHT has been set for December 12th of this year; I'm glad there's something to look forward to after the extreme comic book film blowout of this summer. Again, TWILIGHT is being directed by Catherine Hardwicke who has also directed THIRTEEN and LORDS OF DOGTOWN. I'm excited. You?
I guess I'm happy with the casting so far with Kristen Stewart playing Bella, and Robert Pattinson playing Edward. A friend of mine did mention how she would've really liked Emily Browning (A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS) to play Bella. Too bad, though Emily was a prime candidate for the role.
